Blackboard Error Message
If Blackboard displays the following error message when trying to log in your password is being entered incorrectly.
"Could not login. Valid authentication credentials were not provided."
For other login error messages click here.
Did you forget your password?
First, try the password that you think you had. If that one doesn't work, you can also try others you think you may have used recently. If you still cannot log in after trying several times, please use the "Forgot password?" link displayed on the Blackboard login web page below the Username and Password fields.
This forgotten password process will involve sending an email message to the email account registered in Blackboard (by default your COCC email account) with instructions for how you can reset your Blackboard password so that you can login.
How do I look up my initial password?
Detailed instructions regarding how to look up your initial password are availble here http://its.cocc.edu/HowTo/InitPwd/default.aspx.
If further help is required, visit one of the Campus computer labs and ask the Lab Attendant for help looking up your initial password.
Are you being asked to log in a second (or third) time?
If you have been able to log into Blackboard, but let Blackboard sit, unused, for 20 or 30 minutes, you may have been "timed out" of Blackboard. If this happens, Blackboard will ask you to login, again, usually TWICE (just for double-security reasons). This is not unusual. Just login a second (maybe even third) time, and you should get "timed in" to the system, again.
